King’s appoints Jane Bailey as new Non-executive Director and Deputy Chair

25 July 2023 - New NED joins the Trust this week

Jane Bailey is joining King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust this week as a Non-executive Director (NED), and Deputy Chair of the Trust Board.

Jane brings a wealth of experience to the role, most recently as a NED and Deputy Chair for University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.

During her time at Southampton, Jane also took a six month break from her NED role at the Trust to establish a COVID-19 testing programme across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Jane has a degree in Human Environmental Studies and spent much of her early career at the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, where she rose to the position of Commercial Vice-President, Research and Development. She has significant experience in strategy development, transformational change, and drug discovery and development across a broad range of disease areas.

Jane has also run her own strategy development consultancy, and in 2017, she gained an MSc in public health from King’s College London, where she focused on how to ensure the public are engaged in the development of healthcare services, the social determinants of health, and how social theories can help inform effective disease prevention and management.

Responding to her appointment, Jane said: “It is a great privilege to be appointed to the Trust Board as Deputy Chair, and I am excited to be joining Team King’s. I am also looking forward to supporting the Trust’s BOLD strategy, and doing everything within my role to champion the Trust’s values of kind, respectful team.

“My first priority will be to meet members of the communities we serve, and staff working across our hospitals, to understand how outstanding care is delivered, and the challenges people face every day.”
