King’s College Hospital Nurses League celebrates centenary

20 May 2024 - Saturday 11 May marked major milestone of support for King’s nurses

An organisation dedicated to supporting nurses working across King’s College Hospital Trust has celebrated its 100th anniversary.

King’s Nurses League has celebrated the milestone with a Centenary Reunion which took place on Saturday 11 May.  The event also included the unveiling of a new stained-glass window in the Sanctuary Room in St Luke’s Chapel at King’s College Hospital, followed by the League’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).

King’s Nurses League, which was founded in 1924, supports nurses and midwives during their career and after retirement. Membership is open to all staff who trained at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust or its partner organisations, or anyone who has worked for at least a year at the Trust as a nurse or midwife.

Tracey Carter, Chief Nurse and Executive Director of Midwifery at King’s College Hospital, said: “This is a time to recognise and thank our incredible nurses, past, present and future, for their care, commitment and compassion to patients in our hospitals, and in the communities we support.

“It is incredible to think of the many staff who have benefited from educational bursaries, as well as financial support thanks to the hard work and dedication of the King’s Nurses League and it is an honour to be part of such a wonderful milestone.”
