Diabetes psychiatry and psychology

What we do

We see people living with diabetes who are experiencing:

  • stress
  • anxiety
  • or low mood

that is specifically related to their diabetes.

Appointments can be by video or face-to-face.

We offer advice about:

  • accessing local counselling and psychotherapy services
  • psychiatric medication

For some people we can offer talking therapies with our King’s consultants.

We also recommend peer support, for people to share ideas and experiences.  You can find out about the King’s support group for people with type 1 diabetes.  We also run peer support sessions for people with diabetes burnout.

For more about psychological support, go to Self-management resources, on the Diabetes page.

We are part of the Diabetes service at King’s. We run the Type 1 Diabetes and Disordered Eating clinic, and work with the Psychology (Adult Clinical Health) service.

Location

Venetian Building, King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London, SE5 9RS
