Local community event showcases support for Team King’s
08 October 2024 - Local residents host staff wellbeing event at King’s College Hospital
Locals from Camberwell stopped by King’s College Hospital to give staff a boost with a special community and wellbeing event on Tuesday 1 October. SE5 Forum, the local community forum for Camberwell with 1650 members, joined with Camberwell Arts, which runs the UK’s longest running arts festival. Both are run by volunteers.
As part of their Love Local campaign, SE5 Forum board members and Camberwell Arts shared local resources available to King’s College Hospital staff, such as a wellbeing map, travel and food guides, and the upcoming Camberwell Black History Walk. They were also on hand to offer samples from local businesses, including snacks, as well as vouchers to use in local shops.
Camberwell Arts and SE5 Forum are community voluntary sector organisations which have worked to improve Camberwell’s diverse community for over 30 years. Marie Staunton, Secretary at SE5 Forum, said: “It is wonderful to have the opportunity to support the hardworking staff at King’s, while putting the spotlight on some local businesses right on our doorstep. Enjoying Camberwell’s eateries, galleries and green spaces can improve health and wellbeing for staff and patients.”
Anna Clough, Site Chief Executive at King’s College Hospital, said: “These events are a fantastic way to bring us closer to our local community. We are extremely lucky to have the support of local organisations such as Camberwell Arts and SE5 Forum for Camberwell, who are dedicated to supporting people who live and work in the area.”
