Biography
Mr Omer Onur Cakir is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London, and a Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine.
He completed his Andrology Fellowship at University College London Hospital (UCLH), Department of Urology, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Department of Urology, in Chicago, USA. Mr Cakir also holds an MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics.
Mr Cakir is the current Chair of the Basic Science Committee of the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM). He is a Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU), the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM), and the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).
His special interests include:
- andrology: erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, Peyronie’s disease, penile reconstruction, penile prosthesis
- male genital cancers: penile and testicular cancers
- male infertility: microsurgical testicular sperm extraction (MicroTESE), microsurgical varicocele surgery, microsurgical vasovasostomy and epididymovasostomy
- benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), GreenLight, laser enucleation, Aquablation, Rezum, Urolift
- urinary stone disease: percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS), ureterorenoscopy (URS) and laser fragmentation of stone.
