King’s surgeon takes up leadership role
15 January 2020 - Mr Rob Bentley has commenced his Presidency of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons
Mr Rob Bentley, Consultant Craniofacial and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon at King’s, has begun his tenure as President of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) following a national vote of the membership.
As part of his remit, Mr Bentley is responsible for representing and promoting the speciality both nationally and internationally, and for organising the annual scientific conference in 2020, where he is putting the spotlight on education, commissioning and cutting-edge research.
Taking place under the theme Facing the Future, the annual scientific conference will showcase the latest developments in research, education, surgical techniques, and patient care in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) from 24 – 26 June 2020 at Southbank Centre, London.
OMFS involves the treatment of many diseases, injuries and defects affecting the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the mouth.
Mr Bentley said: “King’s is one of the UK’s leading regional treatment and training centres for oral and maxillofacial surgery, and we see patients with a range of traumatic injuries. Even with expert care, treatment can be a long and difficult process. The BAOMS annual scientific conference brings together specialists in their field, who are dedicated to ensuring that patients have the best possible outcome. I hope the event will help us tackle the many challenges OMFS specialists will face.”
