Biography
Dr Martin Whyte trained in medicine at King’s College Hospital, qualifying in 1998. During his postgraduate medical training he undertook a PhD at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital (University of London) examining the metabolic effects of insulin in critical illness. He then completed his specialist training (CCT) in Diabetes & Endocrinology and General Medicine in 2010. He was made Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2016.
In 2012 Martin was Clinical Senior Lecturer at The University of Surrey and in 2021 was promoted to Associate Professor of Metabolic Medicine. His area of interest is the effect of insulin resistance on cardiovascular disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. He also takes an active role in medical education and is a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators and a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
