Biography
Prof Venu Kavarthapu is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist interest in lower limb orthopaedics. He was appointed as a Consultant at King’s in 2006.
He qualified at the AP University of Health Sciences in India, before completing his basic surgical and specialist registrar rotation training in the South East Thames Region. His sub-speciality training included a Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery Fellowship in Los Angeles and a Foot and Ankle Fellowship in London. Prof Kavarthapu was the orthopaedic member of the King’s Diabetic Foot Team, which in 2007 won a prestigious Hospital Doctor Award.
Prof Kavarthapu lectures at national and international conferences on diabetic foot surgery, trauma, hip arthroscopy, and primary and revision hip arthroplasty. He is also actively involved in research and has published several scientific articles on Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Prof Kavarthapu’s other roles include Honorary Senior Lecturer at King’s College London, lead clinician for the Orthopaedic department, and Orthopaedic Training Programme Director for SE London. He has been appointed Associate Professor at Odense University Hospital and University of Southern Denmark. He is also chairs the British Indian Clinical and Academic Partnership.
