Biography
Dr Sophie Harris is a Consultant in Diabetes and General Internal Medicine at King’s College Hospital. She is also the Clinical Lead for Diabetes.
Dr Harris has a specialist interest in Type 1 diabetes (including technology) and diabetes in pregnancy. She also has experience of working in the innovative T1DE service with people with T1 diabetes and eating disorders.
Her previous research with King’s College London (under Professor Amiel) investigated the reasons for low uptake of diabetes self-management courses (DAFNE). From this PhD project she has gone on to transform the delivery of diabetes self-management in south London through her other role as Deputy Director of Diabetes at the Health Innovation Network (HIN).
She is a DAFNE trained doctor and strong believer in the need for self-management in long-term conditions.
