Midwife at King’s wins prestigious award

23 January 2023 - Elizabeth, a Consultant Midwife, was awarded the prestigious Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Chief Midwifery Officer (CMidO) Award at King's College Hospital.

We are thrilled to announce that one of our talented midwives, Elizabeth, a Consultant Midwife, was awarded the prestigious Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Chief Midwifery Officer (CMidO) Award at King’s College Hospital. The award presentation was conducted by the Chief Midwifery Officer for England, Jessica Read, and the Chief Midwifery Officer for London, Kate Brintworth.

The CNO and CMidO Awards are a significant recognition for the outstanding contributions made by nurses and midwives in England to nursing and midwifery practice. Kate Brintworth, Chief Midwifery Officer for London, stated, “It’s lovely to be able to celebrate the excellence of supporting staff and women alike even when we are facing some of the most challenging times in maternity. Elizabeth’s award shows the very best of maternity care.”

Elizabeth was nominated for her efforts to increase the standard and safety of care for both individuals and the maternity team through her role as a weekly masterclass forum facilitator. She has established a virtual learning space where staff can share knowledge and experiences, and has encouraged staff to present their expertise in over 40 different subjects related to maternity care. Elizabeth is also praised for her individualized care planning, support for women and colleagues, and her approach to balancing evidence and appropriate information to ensure safe care. She is highly valued and respected by her colleagues and is considered a role model.

Elizabeth, said, “It’s a great privilege to be recognised professionally. I’m honoured to accept this award on behalf of the entire team, who make King’s a wonderful place to work and to have a baby.”
