Applying for a job at King’s
Our communities and patients are so diverse that it is often said we have ‘the world on our doorstep’.
Our services need to reflect these diverse needs. A fair hiring process is the first step.
Where we advertise vacancies
All our roles are advertised on:
Some vacancies are for internal staff only. Where this is the case, it will be clearly indicated on the job advert.
To apply for temporary roles, go to our King’s Staff Bank page
To apply for support service roles, including catering, cleaning, and portering, go to our Support services page
Filling out your application online
All applications are made through an online form. This ensures they are all in the same format and assessed fairly.
We do not accept CVs for the majority of vacancies, so it is vital that you fill in the online form correctly. It is the only document we have to help us decide whether or not to invite you to interview.
Take time to read all the information in the vacancy advert
Pay particular attention to the Job Description and the Person Specification.
The Job Description outlines the main duties and responsibilities. The Person Specification details the qualifications, skills, and knowledge needed.
If you still have a question about the role
If your question about the role is not answered in the Job Description or advert, contact the named person in the advert for an informal discussion.
You can also find more information about the different roles in the NHS and what they involve on the NHS Careers website.
Check the closing date
You cannot submit your application after the closing date. Sometimes we may close the vacancy earlier if we receive a lot of applications, so please submit your form as early as possible.
Prove you can meet all or most of the essential criteria
Your application should show how you meet each of the criteria listed as essential for the role. If you do not specifically state how your skills and experience match the Job Description and Person Specification, or you are unable to meet the criteria, we are unlikely to shortlist you for interview.
Give us all the information we need
Make sure you complete all parts of the form honestly, accurately, and thoroughly, particularly the supporting statement.
Tailor your application to the role
Don’t just add your CV to the supporting statement. You can use this area to sell yourself and how your skills and experience match the role.
Make sure your personal information is up to date
In particular, make sure your email and phone number are up to date, so we can contact you.
Read through the form for any errors or omissions before you submit it
You cannot make any changes once you have submitted your form. But you can save it at any time before submitting it, and return to it later.
We can only view your form after you have clicked on ‘Submit’.
Check your emails and your jobs account
Check your emails and jobs account regularly during the recruitment process in case we need to contact you.
