We offer a range of childcare benefits. These include flexible childcare, an onsite nursery (Bright Sparks Nursery, Orpington Hospital), cover for people on maternity leave, childcare advice for staff, and part-time training for people returning from maternity leave.

As of 28 February 2025, we no longer provide a day nursery service near our King’s College Hospital site at Denmark Hill.
Bright Sparks Nursery, Orpington Hospital
All NHS and King’s College London and Institute of Psychiatry staff can apply for a place at the Bright Sparks Nursery, Orpington Hospital.
If you have a child in our nursery, you can join the nursery fees salary sacrifice scheme, which will save you money each month because the cost of the nursery is deducted from your pay before it is taxed.
Bright Sparks Nursery, Orpington Hospital:
- cares for children from three months to five years old
- is open 7am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays
- caters for children’s individual needs
- has areas for creative, imaginative, constructive, and graphic play
- includes a book corner and a pre-school room
- has a garden play area designed to complement inside play activities
- supports children who speak English as a second language.
