Change to parking charges for patients and visitors at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Orpington Hospital

24 July 2024 - The new parking charges will be introduced from 1 August 2024

We are introducing changes to car parking charges for patients and visitors at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and Orpington Hospital from 1 August 2024.

The changes are being introduced to ensure the Trust can cover the many costs associated with running and maintaining car parks at both hospitals.

The concessions currently in place for certain patients and their relatives – for example, those receiving palliative and long-term care – remain in place, and are unaffected by the changes we are introducing from August.

This is the first increase in charges for patients and visitors since 2013, and the new charges that come into effect from 1 August brings us in line with charges used by other hospitals.

The cost of running car parks has increased significantly due to inflation and rising costs, as well as essential enhancements and upgrades.

We are also investing in eco-friendly initiatives at PRUH and Orpington Hospitals as part of efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our car parks.

The new costs from 1 August are as follows (please note: the charges apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week):

  • Up to 1 hour: £2.00
  • Up to 2 hours: £3.00
  • Up to 4 hours: £5.00
  • Up to 6 hours: £7.50
  • Up to 24 hours: £10.00

Please note, these charge increases do not impact our King’s College Hospital site as there is no general public car parking on that site. Find out more about the drop off and collection zones and Blue Badge parking at King’s College Hospital.
