King’s oral health team shortlisted in flagship healthcare awards

04 September 2024 - Oral Health Promotion Team have been recognised by the 2024 Dentistry Awards

King’s College Hospital’s Oral Health Promotion Team has been announced as a finalist in the Team of the Year category in the annual Dentistry Awards.

The Dentistry Awards 2024 celebrate excellence in dental practice, recognising dental professionals for their achievements and advancements.

The team, which is part of King’s College Dental Hospital, was nominated for their work to introduce children and their families to the importance of oral health. Taiwo Oyegunle, Oral Health Promotion Manager at King’s College Hospital, explained:  “Everyone deserves a healthy smile, and our team is passionate about helping as many people as possible with their oral health. For children, it’s never too early to learn about the importance of looking after teeth and gums. We support this through our Supervised Tooth Brushing Program, as well as workshops for parents and health visitors, and partnerships with local mainstream and special educational schools to promote good oral care. Over the past year, we have reached over 20,000 children in South London and assisted over 1,500 families. We advocate for a life course approach, delivering education throughout a person’s life from early development years to older years through our care homes projects.”

“This award is a huge honour for our team, and we’re delighted to have our hard work recognised by the Dentistry Awards.”

Dr Mark Sayers, Clinical Director of the Dental Institute at King’s College Hospital, added: “We’re extremely proud of our Community Oral Health Promotion Team. This award nomination reflects their dedication and commitment to getting out into our local communities and helping to change lives.”

Winners will be announced on 13 September 2024. For more information, visit the 2024 Dentistry Awards.
