Minister of State for Health and Secondary Care visits King’s
22 June 2023 - Will Quince MP met with staff and patients on Marjory Warren Ward on 19 June 2023.
King’s College Hospital welcomed Minister of State for Health and Secondary Care, Will Quince MP, this week and gave him a tour of a specialist ward at the hospital for older people.
As part of his visit, Will Quince MP heard how the Trust is working to involve family members and loved ones more closely in planning and decision making around the care our teams provide, and the positive impact this can have on patients’ recovery, and quality of life.
During his visit, the Minister met with Professor Clive Kay, Chief Executive of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Sharmeen Hasan, Consultant Geriatrician, and Patricia Mecinska, Assistant Director of Patient Experience, before being given a tour of the unit.
Patricia Mecinska, Assistant Director of Patient Experience at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “At King’s, our teams recognise the invaluable contribution that friends, carers and loved ones make to the patients under our care, including supporting us to provide care that’s respectful of our patients’ needs, so enabling them to make a positive recovery. Plans to involve care supporters in a more formalised way will be welcomed by many patients and will aid us in delivering our vision of providing outstanding care to patients and communities.”
