Our new staff profile for March 2022 is Miriam Harley, Upper Gastrointestinal Clinical Nurse Specialist at King’s College Hospital. Miriam has been part of King’s since 2003, she said: “I like it because it is a dynamic place to work with a great diversity of staff and patients.”
“My role is special to me because I have the privilege of caring for patients and their loved ones at a time of particular vulnerability. This gives me the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives and provide personalised care.”
“I have had many special moments with patients which makes my role so rewarding. I think even in sad times such as breaking bad news, the ability to bond with people and even find a reason to smile is truly special.”
This March it is also International Women’s Day on the 8th, and we asked Miriam what this means to her at King’s: “As a working mum I am grateful for the flexibility King’s has afforded me over the years so here’s a nod to all the mothers and women multitasking out there whether staff or patients!”
