What we do

We are a leading world class centre for neurosurgery. We treat people who live in south east London and Kent, and people referred to us for specialist care and treatment from across the UK and internationally. Our patients include adults, children, young people and unborn babies (fetal neurosurgery).

Neurosurgery is part of the neurosciences department, our team includes neurosurgeons, pain relief doctors, neuro-radiologists, and dedicated neurosurgical nursing staff including clinical nurse specialists, and therapists.

We provide emergency and planned (elective) inpatient services, a wide range of outpatient clinics, diagnostic tests and investigations. As a specialist centre sometimes patients are transferred to the King’s neurosurgery team for treatment. Once the patient is stabilised they are transferred back to their local hospital to continue care and medical treatment or rehabilitation, to ensure they are being treated as close to home as possible. This also helps to make room for other patients who need urgent or emergency care.

Our team combine their clinical expertise with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure our patients receive the very best care and treatment. We run specialised multidisciplinary clinics as well as children’s (paediatric) clinics.
