Outpatients

When you arrive for your appointment, go to the clinic on your appointment letter. Our Map of King’s College Hospital will help you find your way around the Trust and you may also find it useful to know which building you need to go to. After your appointment, please go back to the clinic reception desk to check what you need to do before you leave.

Change or cancel your appointment

To change or cancel a first appointment, phone our Outpatient Appointment Centre (OPAC) on 020 3299 1919. Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. Our busiest time is 12pm to 2pm, so if you phone at this time, you may wait longer for your call to be answered.

We are closed on bank (public) holidays.

To change or cancel follow-up appointments, please call the number on your appointment letter or use our A to Z of services to find the contact number for the relevant service.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?

  • Your appointment letter
  • Any medicines you are taking
  • Any samples your appointment letter asks you to bring
  • Money for prescriptions, or an exemption certificate
  • A list questions you want to ask

I need an interpreter or translator – how do I arrange one?

Ring the number on your appointment letter and an ask for an interpreter to be arranged for you.

For more information, visit our interpreting and translation service page.

Healthcare students

King’s is a teaching hospital where our students get practical experience by treating patients. Please tell your doctor or nurse if you do not want students to be involved in your care. Your treatment will not be affected by your decision.

Research

You might be asked to take part in clinical research during your time at the hospital. You can refuse to take part. This will not affect your treatment in any way.

If you do take part, the doctor will explain what is involved. They will also ask you to sign a consent form to show you agree to take part.

Smoke-free King’s

We are a smoke-free hospital. This means you are not permitted to smoke anywhere in the hospital or its grounds.

The use of e-cigarettes and vapes is prohibited within hospital buildings, enclosed areas and next to building entrances and exits, but is permitted on the grounds.

We offer help to quit to all patients and visitors.
